The fundamental purpose of an Ijazah is to establish and preserve an unbroken chain of transmission (Sanad) that traces back directly to our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), ensuring the authenticity of the Quran’s recitation and teachings.

What is an Ijazah?

Linguistically, “Ijazah” means “permission,” “authorization,” or “license.” In the context of Quranic studies, it is a certification confirming that the holder has mastered the recitation or memorization of the Quran and is now qualified to pass that knowledge on to others. This certification is granted after the student has recited the Quran word-for-word to a certified teacher who already holds a valid Ijazah.

Types of Ijazah Offered:

• Ijazah in Quran Recitation (Qira’at): For mastering the fluent and correct recitation of the Quran with the application of Tajweed rules.

• Ijazah in Quran Memorization (Hifz): For mastering the memorization of the entire Quran.
